Viridis Vires Corporation (VVC) recently provided an update on the progress of the Helium Project in Syracuse, New York. Under the project, VVC is working to transform an abandoned industrial site located in the city’s Southside neighborhood into a multi-use facility and significant green energy source.
The project includes installing a 6.5MW combined-cycle solar PV/thermal energy plant on the 5-acre site. The energy plant is expected to generate enough electricity to power up to 1,000 households. Additionally, VVC plans to construct a 700,000 square foot helium electric battery storage facility on the property, which will provide additional electricity to help meet peak demand and provide grid-balancing capacity for Onondaga County.
VVC CEO, Richard Petersen said “We are pleased to see this project advancing at this pace. We are committed to working alongside the City of Syracuse and its local partners to construct a more sustainable and economically viable energy future.”
VVC also provided additional updates on the status of the project, including the installation of the solar panels, construction of the battery facility, mound construction and the completion of the grading work.
The progress of the Helium Project is a crucial step for the City of Syracuse as it works to meet its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project is expected to bring significant economic and environmental benefits to Syracuse and the surrounding area.
VVC plans to continue working with the city and its local partners to move the project forward. The company is also committed to working with the community and engaging stakeholders throughout the project.
