A deep-pocketed group that is backing Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election is launching an outreach campaign to Latino voters. The group, UnidosUS, is aiming to mobilize and educate the estimated 30 million eligible Latino voters in the country.
The initiative will include digital advertisements, direct direct mail, outreach to churches and other places of worship and canvassing, according to a press release from the group. The group is also making an effort to have volunteers connect with Latinos in Spanish-speaking communities, explaining the importance of casting a ballot in this year’s election.
UnidosUS is hoping that the campaign can help to galvanize the voting power of the traditionally underrepresented Hispanic community. This is especially important this election cycle, as polls show Joe Biden earning strong support from Latino voters. However, simply earning their support is not enough if these voters do not make it to the polls.
“The Latino community in the United States is absolutely critical to ensuring Joe Biden’s victory this November 3rd,” said Joe Solis-Cohen, UnidosUS VP of Political Strategy. “UnidosUS is activating a robust, multi-level campaign—from direct mail to digital ads to phone calls—to ensure more Latinos vote and their voices are sufficiently heard.”
UnidosUS plans to invest heavily in battleground states such as Arizona, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania throughout the remainder of the campaign season to ensure that as many Latino voters as possible cast their ballots come Election Day.
As the election draws near and polls show Biden and Donald Trump neck-and-neck, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization is hoping its outreach campaign can help to catapult Biden to victory in November. With strong outreach to the Latino community, UnidosUS is determined to ensure their voices are heard and their ballots are counted.
