Elon Musk recently promised to deliver an anti-woke chatbot to the world, but it appears his plan is not going as smoothly as he expected. The highly-anticipated chatbot was supposed to be a safe space for those who disagreed with the social justice movement, but it hasn’t been well-received.
The chatbot was developed by Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, OpenAI, and was meant to be a neutral platform for people to talk about their beliefs. Unfortunately, some of the chatbot’s responses were seen as racist and misogynistic by many users. This caused a large backlash, leading Musk to delete the chatbot less than a day after it was launched.
While Musk has not given an official explanation as to why the chatbot was taken down, many believe it was his attempt to distance himself from the controversial political conversations, which have divided many online communities.
In response to the chatbot shutdown, Musk tweeted: “Sometimes life presents hard choices that feel like lose/lose but that’s OK. Deleted OpenAI chatbot, went too far. We live and learn.”
It’s unclear if Musk will attempt to relaunch the chatbot in the future, but for now, it would appear that his pre-launch promises of providing an anti-woke platform have not successful. The incident is a reminder that artificial intelligence systems are not perfect solutions and should be used with caution.
