Authorities in Uganda are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with the murder of two newlyweds, who were killed on their honeymoon.
Joseph Oswahalo, 26, and his wife, Felicia Opolese, 23, were visiting the Kilitary Game Park on Saturday, October 5th, when they were ambushed by two unidentified men who shot them several times with a rifle. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the attack.
The newlyweds had married in a traditional Ugandan ceremony just one week before their honeymoon, and were planning to travel across Africa after their stay in Uganda.
Ugandan police are now scouring the area for the gunmen. Witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing the scene of the attack, and officers believe they may have escaped into one of the many forested areas nearby.
For now, police have stepped up their presence in the parks surrounding Kilitary Game Park, and Forest Officers are being sent to patrol the beaches.
The tragic deaths of two newlyweds has shaken the local community, who are still trying to come to terms with the senseless violence that took the lives of these young people on the cusp of their bright future.
The Ugandan government has offered a reward for any information leading to the capture and conviction of those responsible for the attack. Despite the shock and sadness felt by many in the area, their determination to bring the suspects to justice remains strong.
